Sober House will follow Celebrity Rehab cast, Andy Dick in sober living
Celebrity Rehab 2 concluded last night, and it was another intense, thoroughly engaging season. It’s the best show on VH1, and clearly penance for their 718,259 spin-offs of Flavor of Love.
From Jeff Conaway (so tragic; the day when his death is a headline is probably coming sooner than later) to Gary Busey (so hysterically screwed up with his preaching yet so vulnerable and human) to Seth “Shifty” Binzer (and his horrifying, crack-smoking rooftop relapse), the cast delivered again. The sad part is that’s because they’re so devastatingly ill, as entertaining as the edited version of their time in rehab might be.
Some of them will be back in just a few weeks so we can watch them continue to recover or spiral downward, and it looks like mostly the latter. Sober House will follow members of both seasons’ casts starting Jan. 15. VH1 planned to create a spin-off focusing on the sober living environment, and clearly decided to go forward with it, as a preview for the new series ended last night’s 90-minute episode.
The spin-off’s cast features Steven Adler, Seth “Shifty” Binzer, Marey Carey, Rodney King, Nikki McKibbin, and Amber Smith, plus Andy Dick. Actor Jennifer Gimenez will serve as their “house mother,” and treatment facility staffers Bob Forrest and William Smith will also help out along with Dr. Drew Pinsky.
