ArchivesReports about a celebrity edition of American Idol may have been a bit premature. The show’s executive producer, Nigel Lythgoe, told reporters that it’s not a sure thing yet. “We have no deal yet with FOX,” he said. That contradicts a report in Variety, of which Lythgoe said, “We’re going to let them rumble on,” whatever that means.
Of course, FOX is the network that just greenlit Skating With the Stars, and has yet to pass up an opportunity to squeeze the Idol franchise so hard that its eyeballs bulge out, so we can probably expect to see Celebrity Idol sooner rather than later.
