Jeff Probst created, will host Live Like You’re Dying pilot for CBS

Jeff Probst will host the pilot of a new CBS reality show that he created called Live Like You’re Dying.

As the title suggests, each episode follows someone who’s dying and “take[s] them on the last adventure of their life,” Probst told Entertainment Weekly. “It could be playing guitar with Eric Clapton or jumping out of a plane into a volcano. Whatever it is that you’re still desiring to do in your life — we want to make it happen.” He says it’s not as depressing as it sounds: “The focus of the show is not death. The story we’re going tell is about living. This is a show that is intended to inspire everybody to get the most out of their lives every day.”

The pilot episode will be produced in January, well after production concludes on Survivor’s 18th season, and since Emmy-winner Probst is signed through season 20 of Survivor, the new series shouldn’t affect that show.

Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and Trading Spaces producer Denise Cramsey “will act as showrunner,” according to Entertainment Weekly, which also says that Survivor creator Mark Burnett will also be an executive producer.

The show sounds like a cousin of Amazing Race host Phil Keoghan’s Discovery Channel series No Opportunity Wasted, which gave people money and three days to live out their dream.
