Buckwild’s Shain Gandee dead at 21
One of the stars of MTV’s reality series Buckwild, Shain Gandee, was found dead today, along with the body of his uncle and another person. Shain was 21.
The vehicle was found this morning, more than a day after they’d gone missing; The Charleston, WV, Daily Mail reports that “Kanawha Commission President Kent Carper said authorities told him that one of the three bodies found in a vehicle off Wolf Pen Drive in Sissonville was Shain Gandee, 21. Carper said he was told that Gandee’s uncle David Gandee, 48, was also dead in the vehicle.”
MTV said in a statement,
“We are shocked and saddened by the terrible news about Shain Gandee, and those involved in this tragic incident. We are waiting for more information but at this time, our main concern is for the Gandee family and their friends. Our thoughts and prayers are with them. Shain had a magnetic personality, with a passion for life that touched everyone he met and we will miss him dearly.”
The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office issued a release earlier today saying Shain and his uncle “were reported missing overnight. They were last seen at Larry’s Bar in Sissonville, WV, around 3:00 a.m. Sunday, March 31, 2013. The two said they were going four-wheeling in Shain’s Ford Bronco.”
Update, 4.2.13: Autopsies revealed that all three men died accidentally of carbon monoxide poisioning; Shain’s 1984 Ford Bronco’s tail pipe was blocked when the truck became stuck in mud.
