Rachel Zoe’s Taylor fired or quit; Tabatha’s Salon Takeover made salon messier
Taylor Jacobson, who’s been threatening to leave Rachel Zoe’s employment for two season of Bravo’s The Rachel Zoe Project, has left her job, maybe because Rachel fired her.
People reports that she was fired last Friday morning, citing “sources,” but an e.mail from Taylor to her contacts published by Fashionista said she left on her own. Taylor wrote, “After four amazing years at Rachel Zoe Corporation, I’m saddened and exhilarated at the same time to announce my departure. After much thought and consideration, I have decided to take the challenging leap to go off and style on my own.”
Tay Tay also wrote on Twitter, “Today is an end of an era and a beginning of a new professional chapter. Looking forward to what the future brings…!!!”
Meanwhile, another Bravo series, Tabatha’s Salon Takeover, is being accused of faking parts of the show, particularly how messy a salon was.
The Chicago salon featured in last week’s second-season debut, Orbit, was a complete mess, including its basement, but artistic director Bobby Paul told the Chicago Sun-Times’ Paige Wiser that producers “told us not to clean the salon for a month before we filmed the show. Our salon was dirty, I’m not going to say it wasn’t, but it wasn’t that bad. And they moved shit around the basement to make it look messier.”
In addition, fired stylist Lindsay Giffen “was hired back almost immediately,” the paper reports, and “stylists say that Tabatha actively provoked them to find a villain for the episode.”
Finally, the show excluded about half of the salon’s staff, which makes sense but actually negatively affected the impact Tabatha had. Salon manager Andrea Butler said, “There were 17 people working here, but only nine of us got on the show. Those of us on the show had all this new energy. We were really motivated to make this a new place. But then you had half the staff who felt left out because they weren’t chosen by Bravo. They obviously thought they weren’t interesting enough.”
