Boy Meets Boy

Boy Meets Boy debuts tonight.

Boy Meets Boy debuts tonight.
Bravo debuts the first reality TV show to feature a (nearly) all-gay cast tonight at 9 p.m. ET. On Boy Meets Boy, bachelor James will be courted by 15 men. But “some of the ‘mates’ are actually STRAIGHT men posing as gay men—an interesting twist allowing for numerous avenues of heated on-air discussions and debates that challenge socially preconceived notions of what is considered gay and straight behavior,” the show’s site says. Bravo’s profiles of the fifteen men include a “gay or straight?” poll. If James selects a gay man at the end of the series, he gets $25,000 along with a New Zealand trip; if he picks a straight guy, the straight guy gets the cash. Newsday’s review says that many of the suitors, including the “serious jocks” and “textbook nerd” appear straight, “[b]ut you can’t be totally sure, and that’s the most interesting, thought-provoking aspect of the show.” Metro Weekly’s reviewer says that “[o]n some level, Boy Meets Boy—and every other reality dating show for that matter—just pisses me off. The creators must think American viewers are complete morons.”
