ArchivesAfter debuting with record-tying ratings three weeks ago, FX’s Black. White. has actually lost more than 2.5 million viewers.
The show debuted with “close to 4 million total viewers three weeks ago, [but] ‘Black.White.’ last week drew just 1.45 million viewers, down 64 percent,” Media Life Magazine reports. “Its slide among 18-49s was even more dramatic. Its debut drew 2.76 million viewers in the demo, but by last week it was down to 921,000, a falloff of 67 percent.”
As Media Life says, the show is “turning out not to be particularly audience-sustaining.” That may be because of claims that the show isn’t honest with its portrayals. Or, as Robert Thompson suggests, “Maybe it’s a little too thought-provoking for the kind of audience that go to reality TV.”
