Big Brother 8

Big Brother 8’s ratings up four percent over last season among 18- to 49-year-olds

Dick Donato’s win on Big Brother 8’s finale on Tuesday “matched or set summer [rating] highs across the board,” Variety reports.

Overall, 8.5 million viewers watched the show, making it the evening’s most-popular show in total viewers and among people ages 18 to 49. “For the season, ‘Big Brother 8’ finished up slightly in 18-49 vs. last year’s all-stars edition,” according to Variety.

However, The Biggest Loser 4 “beat ‘Big Brother’ at 9 p.m. in viewership and the demo,” according to The Hollywood Reporter, although since the NBC series had a two-hour episode, it had an average of 7.9 million people for the night.

Still, CBS did well. Last week, Big Brother had the 6th (Thursday), 12th (Tuesday), and 20th (Sunday) most-popular shows, according to Nielsen.

And for the summer, the series “is up 4 percent over last summer among adults 18-49, averaging a 2.9 rating for its thrice-weekly episodes,” Media Life reported.
