All-star Big Brother will include 12 or 14 cast members, more viewer participation during the season
The announcement came yesterday that Big Brother 7 would be an all-star edition, and viewers would vote to select the cast. Of course, there’s a caveat: “it’s expected producers will retain the right to cast some slots with past players who aren’t aud favorites,” Variety reports.
That makes some sense, considering that viewer votes don’t always result in the best outcome, because people vote against their best interests (e.g., who’s most entertaining to watch). That’s why Big Brother took away our right to vote after the first season.
Executive producer Allison Grodner told Variety that our participation won’t end with us voting for the houseguests we want to participate. “This will be the most interactive ‘Big Brother’ yet. Viewers will be getting involved more than in the past,” she said. However, elimination voting and selection of the winner will still be left up to the hamsters.
