Ratings increase significantly after Big Brother’s move to Thursdays

CBS’ decision to move Big Brother 10’s results shows back to Thursdays has paid off, as the show gained its own viewers and improved upon the ratings for the timeslot’s previous occupant. I was skeptical that would work, especially since ratings had just started to increase for the Wednesday results shows, but someone clearly knew what they were doing.

Overall, 6.45 million people watched Angie get evicted last Thursday, according to TV By the Numbers, compared to 6.33 million the week before, when it gained viewers from an all-time low.

The real news is that the show gained younger viewers, a 15 percent increase among viewers ages 18 to 49. According to Media Life, it was “up 28 percent over previous timeslot occupant ‘Greatest American Dog’s” average numbers in the 18-49 demographic, and the show improved on Greatest American Dog “from last week by 53 percent.”
