In March of 2001, VH1 aired Bands on the Run, a competition series featuring pre-existing bands performing gigs in various cities. Later that year, The Independent Weekly reported that the series was “the most expensive show VH1 has ever produced,” and a band member said that cost might prevent VH1 from producing a second season.
Now, word comes that the network is shooting a pilot for a second season, as the network is planning to tape a one-episode pilot featuring two bands.
1980s hair band Faster Pussycat will be one of the two bands participating, the group tells Blabbermouth.net. The band’s explanation indicates that the show’s format will be identical to the first season:
“The pilot involves us promoting and playing a show somewhere in the U.S. announced last minute. They could send us anywhere. The winner is determined by the band that has the biggest turnout and sells the most merch. The dates are Nov. 30th through Dec. 4th.”
