Because there are aren’t enough shows with the word Joe in the title, NBC will debut the six-episode series Average Joe on Nov. 3. Its twist: The woman, Melana Scantlin, will have to select a potential mate from a group of not-quite-hot men; a producer refers to the show as “the anti-Bachelor.” Because producers “[realized] there was a chance that Scantlin would quit, the producers had a backup girl ready to walk in to meet the guys,” the New York Daily News reports. Neither she nor the men knew of the show’s premise; the paper reports that “[a]t one point, Scantlin turns off camera and suggests she’s being duped.” A second season has already been filmed; Celebrity Mole winner Kathy Griffin hosts.
