ArchivesE! cancels Anna Nicole Show, then picks up shows starring Anna Nicole.
E! has cancelled The Anna Nicole Show, sort of. The show, which aired for two seasons but has been up in the air for more than half a year, won’t return as a regular series. E! has, however, agreed to air a series of reality-based specials about Anna Nicole, because someone there apparently forgot that they just fired her. Anna Nicole Bares All debuts Feb. 22 and “follow Smith as she prepares for her first runway job in years for New York’s Fashion Week,” Variety reports. E!’s apparently going for the meta-reality thing, as the special “will feature Smith’s new slimmed-down look as well as her thoughts on the first two seasons of her show.” An E! exec tells Variety that ratings were golden, but “[t]he show, creatively, was not where we wanted it to be. Based on the ratings alone, the answer would have been yes (to a third season). We just think a series of specials is a better way to present Anna.”
