America’s Got Talent 2 is the week’s top-rated show; Hell’s Kitchen beaten by a sit-com repeat

With summer officially here, viewers have fled, leaving “tepid ratings” behind, the AP reports. That explains why NBC was actually in first place last week: America’s Got Talent 2 was last week’s top-rated show, as 12.51 million people watched.

Among the other top-10 shows, only one is a reality show: So You Think You Can Dance, which was watched by 9.17 million people. ABC’s “highest-rated show for the week” was The Next Best Thing, which came in 27th, the AP reports.

As an example of how sad summer viewership is, on Monday night, Hell’s Kitchen 3 won the night for FOX among viewers ages 18 to 49, Variety reports—but there are far less of them than there are of old people. Thus, with 7.2 million viewers, Gordon Ramsay’s show was easily crushed in overall viewers by a repeat of Two and a Half Men, which was watched by 9 million people. A repeat! Of a crappy comedy!
