ArchivesThe second season debut of America’s Got Talent drew more viewers than last year’s premiere. On Tuesday, 12.9 million viewers watched, compared to 11.8 million last year, which is a 9 percent increase, Media Life reports.
Among viewers ages 18 to 49, the show increased its viewership by 35 percent, drawing NBC’s “top 18-49 rating this summer,” and making it “the best rating thus far for any summer show debut,” according to Media Life.
Overall, the two-hour finale, which featured a quasi-confrontation between new judge Sharon Osbourne and Piers Morgan over a little girl who performed, earned “the show’s best-ever performance in total viewers and the top premiere of the summer.”
