Planned American Idol spin-offs include Second Chance Idol, featuring has-been stars, and World Idol, a competition between winners from the shows all around the world. Now, FOX has announced plans to produce a version of the show featuring kids ages 6 to 12. The show won’t be a direct clone; Variety reports that “producer Simon Fuller has talked about using a talent competition format to launch a kiddie band dubbed ‘The AJs’ (American Juniors), and industry insiders said it’s very likely the new Fox project will follow that pattern.” It will air this summer.
