American Juniors

American Juniors debuts tonight.

American Juniors debuts tonight.
FOX gives kids ages 6 to 13 a chance at stardom (but not humiliation) tonight at 8 p.m. ET when American Juniors debuts. Unlike its parent show, however, there won’t be just one winner, but five, and together they’ll form a new group. The show’s structure involves viewers voting for their favorite contestants each week to both narrow a group of 20 to 10, and to pick the five winners from that group of 10 finalists; in other words, no one is voted out, but they’re voted in. The three judges have yet to be named; they’ll appear on the June 17 episode, when Ryan shows up for the first time. USA TODAY says the eight-week show is “a pint-sized, cruelty-free ‘Idol,’” although “Fox’s typical cruelty angle centers on micromanager stage moms.”
