Ellen promises to help Angela Martin get signed, with Kara DioGuardi’s songwriting help

Ellen DeGeneres surprised rejected American Idol 9 contestant Angela Martin Friday by telling her that Kara DioGuardi will write and produce a song for her, and said, “We’re going to get you a record label.” Ellen told her, “Your attitude is so amazing, because you keep getting back up” and “you don’t let anything get you down.”

That’s considerably more help and comfort offered initially by Kara, who consoled Angela while giving her the bad news at the end of Hollywood week by making her move to sit precariously on the arm of a chair so that Kara could sit in it.

Angela has had a shitty string of luck during her three times auditioning: Her first time in Hollywood came shortly after her dad was killed, and the second time she couldn’t compete because she was jailed for six days for failing to pay for tickets. This season, her mother has been missing. In addition, her daughter also has Rett Syndrome and needs special care.
