American Idol auditions will start in June, a month earlier than last year

Auditions for American Idol 9 will start more than a month earlier than they did last year, and will have finished three cities by the time the American Idol 8 finalists’ tour starts July 5.

The show will visit seven cities: Boston, Atlanta, Los Angeles, Orlando, Denver, Chicago, and Dallas. The audition schedule lists dates and venues for five of them; Chicago and Dallas’ information is TBA. Registration for the very first audition in Boston starts June 12, while its actual auditions start June 14—a full month before last year’s July 17 start date.

There aren’t any details yet beyond that, but the audition page promises “more information coming soon,” and it’s unlikely anything such as the age range or other requirements will change.
