Seacrest gets $45 million to host Idol for three more years
Ryan Seacrest has officially signed a $45 million contract that will keep him hosting American Idol for $15 million a season. That “is believed to be the richest ever for a reality host,” according to The Hollywood Reporter, which says the new deal “more than triples his previous salary of slightly less than $5 million per season.” (That’s a lot less than the $12.5 million the Washington Post claimed Seacrest made every season.)
The deal says Seacrest “will be exclusive to [Idol owner 19 Entertainment’s parent company] CKX in broadcast TV primetime to host ‘Idol’ or any CKX-produced show that might succeed it.” In other words, even if Idol doesn’t last three more seasons, Seacrest will.
