Simon Cowell and Terri Seymour break up; Simon loves cartoons like Wacky Races
American Idol judge Simon Cowell and Terri Seymour, who have been dating for six years, have broken up, but she’s leaving the relationship with $9.6 million in parting gifts.
Simon Cowell told Fox News the split is because Terri “wants a different path in life, and I totally respect her for it. We will be the best of mates, but I think in relationships, you have to be totally honest. I have always been and I know Terri knows that.” Those differences are about marriage and kids: “I find women confusing really. When you hook up and date, you’re both honest about what you want. I have never ever said that I want children or marriage. I know some people find it hard to fathom, but it’s me, it’s who I am,” he said.
Simon is not seeing anyone else. “There is no one new in my life. I can honestly say some of my best friends are girls, but we’re not dating, and that is that. Forget any lurid tabloid headlines. Myself and Terri will remain firm friends. We’re grown ups.”
She has almost 10 million reasons to stay friends, as he gave her “$5 million cash and another $4.6 to buy a Beverly Hills home just before calling it quits,” MSNBC’s Courtney Hazlett reports, citing a Life & Style magazine report. Cowell’s representative would only say, “this isn’t the kind of thing he usually comments about.”
In another publication, Simon did break some news, telling the Daily Mirror, “I’m off women now,” so we can probably expect some increased sexual tension between him and Ryan Seacrest come January.
Seymour is probably most famous for dating Cowell, despite having appeared on Extra and working as a correspondent for a local Fox station, among other roles. In July, I talked to her briefly during a Fox party at the Santa Monica Pier, and it was probably the lamest interview ever, because I didn’t know anything about her except her connection to Simon, although she was quite nice and honest, admitting that she’s “one of those sad people who loves” American Idol, although she says also loves Dancing with the Stars and would go on it.
As you can tell, the awkward two minutes produced nothing newsworthy, which is why I never wrote about it, but since this is my last chance, here’s what she said when I asked her to tell us something we didn’t know about Simon Cowell:
“How much he loves cartoons. He loves Wacky Races… He Tivos cartoons constantly. I’ll be watching TV and he’ll change the channel to Tivo Wacky Races. Wacky Races, Tom and Jerry, he loves Syllvester the Cat. Cartoons, in general. … [He doesn’t watch other reality shows] as much as he watches cartoons. He doesn’t, really. Obviously he watches America’s Got Talent, his show. He’ll watch The Apprentice occasionally, because he’s good friends with Donald Trump, but not really.”
