ArchivesAmerican Idol host, Emmy nominee, and Emmy co-host Ryan Seacrest was bitten by a shark over the weekend. He wasn’t severely injured, although based upon some of the ridiculously sensational headlines—Ryan Seacrest Survives California Shark Attack, Ryan Seacrest: Shark Attack Victim—you’d think half his body was devoured.
Seacrest described the incident on his radio show (TVtattle links to the audio [MP3]), and Us Weekly quotes key parts: “I thought it was a stick. I wasn’t sure what had happened,” Ryan said. “He took a bite, and he left.” The shark left a tooth behind, although it’s not clear in what part of his body it remained. “It was like finding a splinter,” Ryan said.
The shark bite came between American Idol 8 auditions, which include the show’s first-ever visit to a non-U.S. state later this week.
