David Cook’s pre-taped Idol appearance follows two cancelled concerts
“David Cook will be here” Wednesday night, Ryan Seacrest said at the end of American Idol 8’s performance episode on Tuesday, but he won’t actually be there. His performance of “Come Back to Me” was taped two weeks ago, which is notable because David cancelled two concerts earlier this week.
A post on his web site said “We are canceling Monday and Tuesday’s shows to allow David time to deal with personal family matters.” While the post doesn’t elaborate, People reports that “Cook’s brother Adam has been battling brain cancer for over a decade, and Cook’s rep tells PEOPLE that David spent time with Adam last week.”
He was scheduled to appear in New Hampshire at Colby Sawyer College and Connecticut at South Connecticut University. His next scheduled concert is Thursday in North Carolina at Wilmington University.
David’s Wednesday night performance was taped after the results show on March 18 (it’s not uncommon for guest appearances to be pre-taped), and David Cook’s Fansite has details about what happened besides his performance.
