ArchivesResponding to the news that American Idol 6’s tour is having trouble filling seats, host Ryan Seacrest said that last season’s TV show is to blame, and that changes will be coming for next season.
“I think, to be candid with you, we could have done a better job with the storytelling of the contestants — looking at who they are and where they came from and compiling compelling bio pieces, and I think you’ll see us do more of that this season,” he told USA TODAY.
However, he insists that American Idol 7 isn’t suffering yet, judging by the auditions. “We had more people show up in Philadelphia than we ever had before (20,000, he said earlier). We always see many more contestants that suck compared to those that are great. It’s part of the process. You only need to find one superstar and 12 great ones to fight for it. It’s not hard to find talent,” he said.
