Idol Gives Back will return for American Idol 7

Idol Gives Back, the two-night charity telethon that American Idol debuted last season, will return during the show’s seventh season, although it will occur earlier in the competition.

The fundraiser “will air April 9 at 8 p.m.” and “will include performances and appearances by stars and artists yet to be named,” Variety reports. Last season, it aired later, on April 24.

The special two-night event won the Emmy’s Governor’s Award and raised $75 million, but also was the lowest-rated performance episode of the season to date when it aired last April.
