ArchivesAt the auditions for American Idol 7 in Dallas Tuesday, a woman went into labor, went to the hospital, had her baby, and named him Idol. At least it’s only one of his middle names.
Jamil LaBarron Idol McCowan was born after his mother Antoria Gillon went into labor while singing for producers during an early round. “I kept singing. One of the judges gave me her seat! I told her I had been there all day, and nothing was going to stop me from singing. I hadn’t been there all day for nothing!” she told Us Weekly.
She said that her decision to finish the song before going to the hospital paid off: Producers “gave me a golden ticket to the next round! It’s in September, so I’ll be ready to sing,” she said.
