Idol viewers drop in week two but are up four percent from last year

In its second week, American Idol 6 lost viewers from its first week, but the show is still doing better than last year.

On Tuesday, 32.6 million viewers watched, according to Variety. That’s about five million fewer than last Tuesday. Among viewers ages 18 to 49, the show “earned a higher rating than all four network airings of the Address combined,” according to TV Week.

While its 18-49 rating represents “a 20 percent drop from last week’s two-hour season premiere,” the show “is still up 7 percent compared to its State of the Union-night telecast last year.”

On Wednesday, 33.6 million people watched. Overall, the series “is up by 3% vs. last season in adults 18-49 (14.8/35 vs. 14.4/34) and by 4% in total viewers (35.5 million vs. 34.2 million),” Variety reports.
