Access Hollywood says that “Jennifer Lopez has been scheduled perform on ‘American Idol’ on April 11,” while it “has also heard very strong rumors that Gwen Stefani is slated to perform on ‘Idol’ on March 28th.”
Speaking of guest appearances, season three winner Fantasia will appear on tonight’s one-hour, extra-padded, excruciatingly long results show to perform and make an announcement, Ryan Seacrest has teased all week. As Access reports, she’s expected to “announce that she’ll be joining the cast of Oprah Winfrey’s ‘The Color Purple’ on Broadway.”
Fantasia “is joining the cast of Oprah Winfrey’s Tony Award-winning The Color Purple” to “star as Miss Celie, the abused young woman played by Whoopi Goldberg in Steven Spielberg’s big-screen adaptation of Alice Walker’s novel,” E!’s Planet Gossip reports. Fantasia “will likely begin her Broadway gig sometime in the spring.”
