American Idol had its lowest 18-49 ratings in two years on Tuesday
The unremarkable performances on Tuesday’s Latin-themed performance show gave American Idol its lowest ratings among people ages 18 to 49 in two years.
The show “[dipped] slightly to score its lowest Tuesday 18-49 rating in two years,” TV Week reports. Still, the show was the most-watched program that night on any network, although with 26 million viewers “it’s expected to come in about 15% below the same night a year ago,” according to Variety.
Ratings actually improved on Wednesday, which is atypical, since the results shows tend to draw fewer viewers. That night, 27.9 million people tuned in, “easily beating the other broadcast nets combined,” Variety says.
The results show’s second half was more popular, as the show “delivered a 16.2/25, jumping substantially in the second half-hour,” Zap2it.com says. That’s unsurprising, considering that the first half-hour had no substantial content at all.
