Sanjaya leads Yahoo searches; hunger strike ends; KFC offers him food for bowl cut
Sanjaya, Sanjaya, Sanjaya: The world can’t get enough, and everyone’s trying to get a piece of him, from YouTube whores to corporations to journalists.
First, people using Yahoo! now search for Sanjaya more than any other American Idol finalists. On the site, “searches for Sanjaya have now exceeded the numbers racked up by not only Antonella Barba but also any previous finalist,” USA TODAY reports.
In other news, the woman who starved herself for 16 days stopped her hunger strike, showing that she is not really committed at all to ending Sanjaya’s run on the show. J announced her decision in a video on the Starvation for Sanjaya MySpace page: “I regret to inform you that I went to the doctor’s the other day, and he advised me against continuing this hunger strike,” she said. “If you joined me in the hunger strike, I strongly encourage you to not continue this as well; it can be very bad for you, it can end very badly.” But it didn’t appear to end very badly for her; during the video, an advertisement for a health-related dating site flashes on a screen.
Finally, KFC’s president sent “An open letter to Sanjaya Malakar” (read: press release) that was really just a shameless way to promote their gross-looking product. “If you don a bowl hairdo during one of your next nationally televised performances,” Gregg Dedrick wrote, “KFC will grant you a free lifetime supply of KFC Famous Bowls.” Last season, KFC offered the runner-up $100,000 to pitch the product, so Sanjaya should really hold out.
