American Idol 6

American Idol 6 will debut with eight hours of audition episodes

FOX has announced the schedule for American Idol 6, which debuts January 17, two months, two weeks, and one day from today. The series will again air Tuesday and Wednesday nights at its normal times, Tuesdays at 8 and Wednesdays at 9.

The first six episodes will feature the auditions, and the first two of those will be two-hour episodes. Thus, there will be a total of eight hours of audition episodes, which will feature the best and worst—okay, mostly the worst—of the more than 100,000 people that FOX says showed up to audition last summer.

Those audition episodes will be followed by the four-episode semifinals, which will air Feb. 6, 7, 13, and 14.
