ArchivesAt the TV critics press tour yesterday, FOX’s president said the network won’t be moving American Idol 6 to Wednesdays and Thursdays. Last year, the network considered moving the show, but ultimately kept the series on its normal nights.
Peter Liguori said, “The idea of potentially going into a Thursday night and really taking a chunk of flesh out of the competition is enticing, but I think that the single most important thing we have to do is take care of our own knitting and then worry about what we do with the competition.”
In part because he’s “superstitious,” he said they won’t move it this year. “We stuck to Tuesday and Wednesday nights last year, with the No.1 TV show, and grew it. There’s no sign that says we should be moving it to Thursday.” Instead, the network is scheduling comedies for Thursday nights—at least, those Thursdays when American Idol 6 doesn’t supersize and expand to Thursday nights.
