Katharine McPhee will star in “indie dark romantic comedy” film The Last Caller
American Idol 5 runner-up is tackling a different sector of the entertainment industry just a year after the conclusion of her season: She’s starring in a feature film.
Katharine will star in The Last Caller, an “indie dark romantic comedy” that “is described as a coming-of-age tale about a self-obsessed woman (McPhee) who searches for love, hope and meaning during a few random events with other urban seekers,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.
“This is the first thing that I read that I really wanted to do. I’m up for a couple of big studio projects, but they weren’t starring roles. I wanted to start off doing something a little different. It’s something that a lot of people wouldn’t expect me doing,” Katharine told the paper.
The film shoots this fall, and was written by Michael Albanese.
