Carrie Underwood wins Grammys for best new artist, female country vocal performance

Carrie Underwood has followed her CMA award and her Billboard awards with two Grammy awards.

She was named the year’s best new artist and was recognized for having the best female country vocal performance. In addition, her song “Jesus, Take The Wheel,” won for best country song, although the award goes to its writers, not to its performer.

Carrie “thanked God and Simon Fuller, the creator ‘American Idol,’” according to Reuters, not that she needed to list them separately. She also said, “This is my first Grammy, hopefully, the first of a few more.”

Last year, Kelly Clarkson also won two Grammys, although for song and album.
