ArchivesA 59-year-old man was arrested and charged yesterday with stalking 20-year-old Jessica Sierra, the singer who placed 10th on American Idol 4.
The man, “Daniel Robert Young, 59, called Sierra about six times daily and sent a necklace, a bracelet and dozens of long-stemmed roses to her by way of her grandparents’ house in south Tampa,” the Tampa Tribune reports. “Tuesday, he showed up at the house on South Lois Avenue, carrying a love letter for the singer, Tampa police said. He was charged with misdemeanor stalking.”
He “researched the grandparents’ phone number and called their house, claiming to be a Los Angeles talent scout. The grandparents forwarded the message, and Jessica returned his call on her cell phone,” the paper said.
“That was probably dumb on my part,” Jessica said. He called her again on Tuesday night, and she answered the phone. “He said, ‘I’ll just take a cab to your grandparents’ house,’” she says.
Earlier, Jessica “tried to get a restraining order against Young once she moved to Nashville,” according to the Tribune, but Jessica’s grandmother said police said “unless he physically harmed her, there was nothing they could do.”
