The ratings for American Idol 4’s Tuesday night episode were down slightly. Did the scandal hurt viewership? Did a particularly powerful episode of Gilmore Girls air? According to fans of dismissed rocker Constantine Maroulis, it was all them. Broadcasting & Cable says it was “flooded with e-mails from Maroulis fans saying it was their protest.” One fan wrote, “The real reason is that Constantine fans on various websites including the Fox message boards held a boycott of American Idol [tuesday night] night in protest of the unfair elimination of Constantine Maroulis.” The real question would be how many of those fans are Nielsen households, and the answer is apparently “not many.” That’s because the show’s ratings rebounded Wednesday night, improving slightly over the previous week’s Wednesday episode.
