ArchivesAmerican Idol 4 winner Carrie Underwood is embracing her roots in Nashville this week. Saturday, she’ll appear on the Grand Ole Opry radio show; yesterday, she performed at the Country Music Association’s festival. She also “taped an upcoming special for Country Music Television, performing the Reba McEntire/Linda Davis hit duet ‘Does He Love You?’ with Jamie O’Neal,” according to the AP.
Not surprisingly, “she hopes to release a country album” later this year, although it’ll remain to be seen whether her Idol overlords will let her go all Nashville Star on them. Why country? Carrie tells the AP, “I’m from Oklahoma and grew up listening to country music. I think it’s the most cheerful music.”
