American Idol 4

semi-finalist Travis performs at Club Five’s “gay hip-hop event” in Washington.
One of the last American Idol 4 semi-finalists to be eliminated has moved on, and is now performing in clubs. The contestant is Travis Tucker, and the event has been identified as featuring “gay hip-hop.” As noted by blog MostProper and reported on by Queer Day, Travis made an “appearance at Washington D.C.’s gay hip-hop club called ‘Trade’ at Club Five” last night. The ad for the event shows Travis and identifies the event, but doesn’t say what its focus is. Club Five’s web site identifies Trade as “Five’s newest event for Alternative Lifestyles.” Queer Day points to an interview Travis did with Bolt in which he said, “Hopefully, if nothing else, I’ll get a girlfriend out of this. Hahahaha.” Of course, performing at a gay event says nothing about a performer’s sexual orientation, but continued obsession with the gayness of Idol’s contestants certainly says something about the show’s approach.
