Archivesage limit for American Idol 4 increased to 28; dates, cities for auditions announced.
The cities where American Idol 4 auditions will be held starting in August have been announced, as has a new age limit for the show. Although FOX will still permit people who are 16 to apply, the maximum age has now been increased from 25 to 28. About the change, FOX President Gail Berman said, “I’m sure there are people who are tremendously talented above that but we’re talking about people who hope to have pop careers afterward.” She also said no changes to the voting system are planned right now. Auditions for the fourth season start in Cleveland on August 4, and continue on to Washington, D.C. (August 18), Orlando, FL (August 26), St. Louis, Missouri (TBD), New Orleans (August 31), Las Vegas (September 12), Anchorage, Alaska (September 28), and San Francisco (October 5).
