American Idol 3 finale starts tonight; Jasmine Trias offered a record contract.
Tonight at 8 p.m. ET, Fantasia Barrino and Diana DeGarmo will each sing three songs, and then the American Idol 3 contest will be in the hands of people who know how to use their redial buttons. In conference calls with the press, Fantasia expresses a bit of annoyance with Diana’s age, saying that next year the age limit will be 18 (she’s 19; Diana’s 16), and referred to Diana as “big mouth D.D.” (“affectionately, the Calgary Sun says). She also said young people are “probably getting on those telephones, calling all their friends saying, ‘Vote for Diana.’” …
The contestant came in third, Jasmine Trias, already has an offer. Quiet Storm Records offered her a recording contract, but she has not yet accepted, probably because she’s still under the exclusivity clause of her contract. The company’s CEO guaranteed Jasmine $100,000 tells Pacific Business News, “We’ll give this island beauty everything she deserves and I will personally guarantee $100,000 for Jasmine’s first year if she signs exclusively with us.”
