Subway is Out of Home Dining Sponsor for Idol 3; PBS wants sponsors.
American Idol 3 will feature all of your favorite sponsors from last season, including Coca-Cola, Ford, Clairol Herbal Essences, AT&T Wireless, and Old Navy, but there will be one more product to fill up vast amounts of time: Subway. And unbelievably, as Zap2it.com reports, the fast food restaurant will be the show’s “Official Out of Home Dining Sponsor.” FOX’s VP of sales says, “We are thrilled to continue those relationships and welcome our new partners. These integrated sponsorships have allowed us to expand the scope of the ‘Idol’ brand far beyond traditional advertising and into marketing platforms previously untapped.” Don’t forget “and annoy our audience.” … Over at PBS, not even public television is immune from corporate sponsorship. Thirteen/WNET is launching an “Aggressive New Push To Unite Corporate Sponsors With Signature PBS Programming,” according to a press release. That programming includes the forthcoming Colonial House. That show has already finished filming, however, so the marketing opportunities will likely be limited to “brought to you by” messages, although the release does say they are “set to offer a range of innovative sponsorship opportunities.”
