After nearly making it through the semifinal rounds without a contestant getting kicked off because of amoral or illegal activities, American Idol 3 may have its first scandal. Donnie Williams, who’s scheduled to perform next week and is one of the 32 remaining semifinalists, “was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence early Monday after he allegedly whizzed past a marked police car on Interstate 680 at 100 mph,” the Contra Costa Times reports. He was leaving a party in his honor. After his arrest, he “was not booked, but was cited and released” because his blood alcohol level “was over the legal limit although not enough for him to be jailed.” Maybe anticipating a reaction from FOX—which declined comment last night—he told police, “You’re ruining my life!”
