Ryan Seacrest replaces Casey Kasem on AT40, preps new live TV show.
Brian Dunkelman, get out your Ryan Seacrest voodoo doll. The remaining American Idol host is on the verge of even greater success—also know as overexposure, if that’s still possible. A report in The New York Post says Ryan will take over American Top 40 (the contemporary hit radio version) from Casey Kasem next month. A press release out today announced that Kasem has signed a 10-year deal to keep doing the other two American Top 20 shows (did you have any idea there were three?) Thus, we’ll still be saddled with 10 more years of those awful melodramatic request and dedications in between our Christina and Justin. Additionally, Ryan is prepping his new one-hour live variety/news/whatever show On Air with Ryan Seacrest. Studio audience tickets are currently available; the show debuts Jan. 12, one week before the new Jan. 19 premiere date of American Idol 3. The show will debut a day early because of the State of the Union address.
