ArchivesClay Aiken has artificially inseminated his best friend and former record producer who, yes, is female, and the ambiguously gay American Idol 2 runner-up will become a father in August. The mother is Jaymes Foster, David Foster’s sister, who produced A Thousand Different Ways and is apparently Clay’s best friend/roommate.
People confirmed unsourced gossip reports with David Foster, who said, “The story is true. It is true Clay is the father. She was artificially inseminated by Clay. She’s due in August. They have been friends ever since American Idol, when they worked together.”
The Insider posted a story at 12:45 p.m. that reported the impregnation with Foster’s rep, who said/wrote (the capitalization is weird), “By the way she looks great, glowing and very happy. she and clay have been good friends for a long time.” The media, however, is widely citing TMZ’s 4 p.m. report that cited its usual unnamed sources to claim that “Foster was artificially inseminated” but Clay “will have an active role in raising the child.”
Clay previously said he doesn’t have sexual urges because he “just kind of shut it off,” but apparently he turned it on, at least for some private time with himself.
