The View co-host Star Jones says she’s received about 500 “vicious” e.mail messages about her support American Idol 2 winner Ruben Studdard. On the show yesterday, she said, “I have never received such vicious e-mails … ‘Take Ruben and go back to Africa,’ vicious things.” She tells the New York Post that she’s “shocked at the level of acrimony” and says even when she was getting hate mail over her support for Al Gore, she “didn’t get the level of racist anger I’ve received over this.” Meanwile, Ruben tells USA TODAY that he’s “healthy and plan[s] to stay that way.” The paper talks to physicians, fans, and others about Ruben’s size.
