In Entertainment Weekly’s cover story on American Idol 2, Jessica Shaw spends a week behind the scenes of the show, and reveals that both Randy and Simon think Clay Aiken has the competition locked up. Simon tells her, “You might as well end the competition now. You have to put your money on Clay.” She also reveals that the two male judges “hang each week after the show for an off-the-record dishfest”—and host Ryan Seacrest joins them. Shaw also reports on a confrontation with former contestant Kristin Holt, who confronts the reporter about something she wrote last year, and then warns the other contestants to “be careful what you say around her.”
