One of the people vying for the 32 semi-finalist spots on American Idol 2 is a US Marine, and he was supposed to be deployed to Kuwait this week as part of the impending war against Iraq. But Lance Corporal Josh Gracin, 21, will be on the show tomorrow night because “Marine brass made an exception for him,” the New York Post reports. A source tells the paper the show “had to work with Washington to get Josh out of the deployment”; his mother wouldn’t comment.
+ update: Marines say his unit hasn’t been deployed.
