record ratings for American Idol 2, Trading Spaces live reveal.
Despite disappointment in it, the debut of American Idol 2 became “the biggest premiere TV show in the Fox network’s history” with 26.5 million viewers, the BBC reports. Just under four million more people watched the debut than watched the first season’s finale. Meanwhile, on cable, Trading Spaces live reveal from Las Vegas was watched by 5.9 million viewers, an all-time record for TLC. It was the second most-watched show on cable for the week.
+ update: second American Idol 2 episode stays strong with 25 million viewers, easily beating The Bachelorette’s 13.4 million.
