American Idol season 10 promos highlight winners, not judges

The first promos for American Idol’s 10th season are out, and guess what they focus on? Not the judges—and thus the absence of Simon Cowell. Instead, the two ads highlight the winners, both their auditions and their hometowns, because as we all know, the journey is much more important than the singing, which is probably why Taylor Hicks is included.

Fox has two ads, a 60-second and a 30-second version, and while the full version shows all nine winners, the 30-second one includes only Kelly Clarkson, Lee DeWyze, Ruben Studdard, David Cook, and Carrie Underwood, an interesting mix.
