American Idol

Syndicated American Idol Rewind beats Rachel Ray, is more popular among men

The syndicated version of American Idol, which debuted in September, “is the No. 3 new syndicated program of the season,” Media Life Magazine reports.

The 26 episodes focus on the first season, and features “previously shot but never aired footage, like the [Kelly] Clarkson audition.” Producers also “repackaged the show to highlight the eventual finalists,” Media Life says.

Even though that season aired more than four years earlier, it did very well and “averaged a 2.7 household rating, 0.6 ahead of ‘Ray,’ according to Nielsen data analyzed by Magna Global.” Among other syndicated shows, only Without a Trace and CSI: Miami did better.

More interestingly, the syndicated show “tied for second among new shows” among women 18 to 49, but “ranked a solid No. 2” among men that same age.
